Q: Why NSSA?
A: North Shore Soccer Arena is just that, an arena that caters to soccer specific development. NSSA has three Calcetto fields for simultaneous play. Calcetto is a small sided game that is a fantastic development tool for players young and old. NSSA also has the flexibility to re-configure the field space to allow older players a larger match pitch. NSSA also offers two smaller training specific areas where teams or individuals can work on their skills.
Q: Walls or Lines?
A: NSSA has tried to create an indoor space that promotes skilled soccer for solid development. By having all games played to lines rather than walls anyone who plays at NSSA learns to pass the ball effectively. There are no walls outside and simply banging the ball off of a wall does not promote good soccer. Walls also create a safety issue as players routinely crash into them during game play. At NSSA we promote the beautiful game while creating a safe and flexible playing environment.
Q: Will there be more opportunities for older players to use the larger field space?
A: Most certainly. Now that we’ve seen directly how well the larger space works for older players we will implement a number of new leagues this season where older players are given the chance to play 8v8 matches on the larger field.
Q: Any other improvements?
A: Yes here as well.
NSSA will be using a brand new playing surface this year as we continue to try and create the most realistic indoor conditions available.
All teams and players can now manage their teams online saving a great deal of time creating and checking rosters and other forms.
NSSA will have a new and improved website this season. Along with online registration, scheduling will be vastly improved as well as how we’re able to provide players, parents, coaches and team managers with concise accurate communication.
Q: If I had a team last year is that team still registered?
A: No, unfortunately it is not. We do need you to re-register your team with us. The registration form is provided online at our website. If you can't find it, contact me and I'll send it to you right away.
Q: Can I still play on the night that I played last year?
A: Yes you can. We've gone to great lengths to keep many of the leagues that were offered last season on the same nights and in similar time slots.
Q: If the Grasshoppers are for U5-U9 will there still be a competitive league for U8's?
A: Yes there will, the grasshoppers are a developmental "train and play" league for younger players. We have created a separate training facility just for them, separate from the main arena. The U8 leagues and all other competitive leagues will still operate in the main arena.
Summary:
Even with all of these questions and answers there are bound to be many more that come up. That's just fine. We love the work we do and we're very proud of the experience that we're working to create for you here at North Shore Soccer Arena. Please feel free to contact either of us at any time.
