North Shore United Soccer Club is perparing to begin their second year of operating the North Shore Soccer Arena at the Topsfield Fairgrounds. The North Shore Soccer Arena will continue to offer area soccer players unique local indoor soccer options. First, the arena will offer three side by side Calcetto fields. Calcetto is an Italian term for small sided soccer played without walls and with a regulation soccer ball. The arena will also offer the flexibility of combining fields to offer larger spaces for match play. Also, NSU will continue to offer their youth training facility for players from U5 -U9. Called the NSU Grasshoppers Program, local youth players will be offered the chance to not only play but receive professional training from the NSU Coaching Staff.
"We're very excited to be able to offer indoor soccer without walls. The quality of the indoor game is greatly diminished by the presence of walls and lack of out of bounds territory. When a shot is missed, it should not bounce right back on the field for another try, that's not how soccer is played. I'm thrilled to be able to offer local players a more realistic indoor soccer environment." - NSU Club President Stefano Franciosa
Grasshoppers Stretch Out Before Their Session
The NSU Grasshopper Program will offer North Shore Town leagues and local youth players the opportunity to participate in small sided leagues for youth players U5 - U9. The club will provide professional coaches to make the experience invaluable for young town players. This train and play program will not only offer small sided competition but also professional training during each one hour session. The NSU "Grasshoppers" will focus on skill development and will offer a safe, fun and competitive atmosphere for young players.
